After purchasing the Rpod mid May, we had about 7 weeks to get it ready to ride. Ron, the previous owner, had driven it less than 1,000 miles total in 3 trips during the 3 years he had it. It essentially was in brand new condition.
The original interior of the 2018 Rpod 178
While it was in brand new condition, it felt sterile to me. Everyone knows I love to organize and redecorate, so it will come to no surprise to anyone reading this that the moment we got it home from New York I was on Etsy, Amazon, and Target getting all the things.
Yay! Starting to make the new house on wheels a home. Here was my original vision board for decorating the interior. Jason and I have quite different styles so I worked hard to blend the space into something that would work for both of us. I like calming colors, especially after driving for a long day on the road. He likes bright and exciting colors to stimulate his creativity.
First modification was the peel and stick wallpaper in the kitchen. Big transformation from the dull brown/grey color to this. Took a minute for us to get the groove with this (because of course I couldn’t have chosen one with straight lines), but we got it done!
Next was my favorite piece- this stunning wall mural from Etsy. Took about an hour to get it on- nothing crazy. I put the orange and yellow pillows up but the orange was too much for me. We went back to just having the yellow be the pop color on that side of the camper.
Bear loves sleeping on the bed. Such a snuggle pup!
Easily the most significant modification was the over the bed shelf that Jason crafted. I found these bins at the Container Store (heaven). The color is almost a perfect match to the ceiling and the angled top is magical. 4 of them fit across with our clothes with the one small grey bin hiding in the corner. Three hanging bags fit our nicer shirts/dresses if we need them. Honestly there would be no way we’d be able to store everything on this trip without this mod.
Finding space for dog treats, books and games, utensils and the like became a new Tetris game that I’m not sure I’m winning quite yet but every night we move a few more things to be either more or less accessible and we are finding a groove. The bathroom is small to say the least but with these few mods it’s functional at this time.
I’ll grab some pictures of the underneath the dinette storage another time because the pups are currently asleep on it and I don’t wake sleeping pups!
This is just a preview of what we wanted to fit underneath the camper while we were traveling! More to come on this.
