Warwick, RI to Niagara Falls, NY
Drive time: 6:45am- 3:30pm

On the Rhode and off we go! Jason and I are totally NOT morning people, but we were up and loading the Subaru with the final few items by 5:30am. I couldn’t wait to get on the road!! We totally underestimated what could fit into the car and had to add a few bags to the rooftop storage bag, but even that proved easier than expected. Bear and Patch have been anxiously awaiting to find out what is going on as they’ve seen the bags piling up in the living room for the past week. Once we said “wanna go for a ride?” they KNEW they could get excited too!! Being the dog mom I am, I grabbed the couch cushions from our camper and put them in the back seat so they could be comfy for the long ride ahead.
Breakfast
Truly I was too excited to eat, but I ate a banana and some watermelon Jason had cut up for us. It was really early so we grabbed coffee from Dunkin and promised ourselves we wouldn’t buy anymore coffee today. My Dunkin order? Medium Iced Toasted Almond with almond milk 😋
Snacks

So sometimes the over-organized teacher jumps out at me when I least expect it! This is how I decided to store our snacks this trip! I HATE digging through bags to find things. I will inevitably get frustrated and eat the same thing over and over because I won’t go looking for it. Not this time!!! Trader Joe’s for the win as always with the majority of these treats! The ginger chews were my favorite during this ride today.
Lunch
We passed by the Finger Lakes around 1pm and decided to stop and let the dogs swim while we ate. Unfortunately, the water wasn’t swimmable in that area due to a family of geese. No problem, we sat at a picnic table near some willow trees.
I had packed salads and pasta salad in mason jars (photos coming later). Jason is so far impressed at how well we’ve packed the food. I’m pumped to know that we are eating healthy and fresh food even on the road.

Niagara Falls
I’m not saying that I wasn’t impressed…but I wasn’t as awestruck as I thought I would be by the Falls. Let me walk that back by saying, we were on the American side of the Falls and with two cattle pups in tow, we could not go on the boat that get you all misted and wet. I was most impressed by the raging water leading up to the Falls! Stunning! I have also heard from many many people that the Canadian side is better because you can see the full effect of the Falls. I definitely don’t deny they are right! We met many curious people. One lady asked to take a picture of me and the dogs together? 🤷🏻♀️ I still don’t quite understand that one! 😂

Dinner
We were pretty exhausted by the time we got to the campground. We were the only people in the tent area of the KOA Niagara Falls North so we could allow the dogs some freedom off lead as we set up the tent. Neither of us were super hungry, so we just ate some of what I call my “vegan crack”. I could literally eat this for every meal and not get sick of it! Trader Joe’s vegan kale cashew and basil pesto. Amaaaaaazing!

Shockingly enough, Jason and I were in the tent with the pups by 9pm and asleep soon after! It was a long but satisfying first day.
Yay yay yay! Sounds like a great start to an amazing adventure. You have got to 💗 Trader Joe’s!! As a vegetarian with a bunch of meat eaters I can satisfy all our families needs in one great location. Have a safe journey. Looking forward to your next post!
